Getting Noticed

The closer we get, the more people are noticing what we are doing. This past week we had some members of Cleburne City Council walk through. The local newspaper did a story on our transformation. And numerous people have been posting on Facebook our status.

Here is the link to the story.

Finally we are going to be featured on Cleburne’s Annual Candlewalk Historic Tour of Homes hosted by Save Old Cleburne.

Now it’s a mad rush to get the building ready. Some photos of this week’s progress:

Sealing the brick upstairs.

Restoring an antique display rack. From what we have found, it was used to display small parts when the building was home to the American Dry Goods Store in the 1920’s. We are planning on using it as a coffee bar upstairs.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 334a

The chandelier in the closet. We just finished the brick and will be painting the walls and ceiling this week.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3349And finally our painter finished trimming the outside areas.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3345

The end is in sight and we will be moving in before the end of the year. 2 1/2 years in the making!!!!

Material Lift Finish Out

The Material lift is being finished out.

Here are the doors upstairs. They will be repainted white and the metal grating, in the middle of the doors, will be black.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 333c

We are still adding railing and wire cables. Once everything is installed, we will repaint everything black to match the original design.

And finally, the fire doors on the first floor leading into the Material Lift.

Lighting

This has been a significant week. We have electric and heat upstairs. They are still working on the HVAC units downstairs. They should have those completed the first part of this upcoming week.

Here is the chandelier above the Material Lift. We still need to clean it and add the crystals.

The lights above the kitchen island.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 332d

Here are the lights above the Camera Bar. It’s actually a Consolidated Lithograph Camera that we found during the demolition of the upstairs. The lights are a part of the camera and we had them installed above shining downward. Once everything is clean, we are going to add glass and place bar stools around it.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3339

Our bathroom vanity lights. The mirrors will be added after painting. The vanity is an antique buffet from Austria that we found in Dallas. We cut holes and added the vessel sinks and faucets to make it a working sink.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3335

The crystal chandelier in the closet. The electrician still needs to lower it. Also we left the plastic on it until we finish painting.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 333d

We also have a chandelier above the bed and when you first walk up the stairs. I’ll add more photos of them once they are cleaned and lowered.

Stay tuned for more finishing photos.

More Pictures

Here are some more pictures.

The outside stairs. They will be placing the HVAC cooling units underneith.UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 32ed

Our new floors. We still have to seal the brick. This will be a sitting area.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 32e4

The original handrail going downstairs. These were from the original building. We stripped them down and will stain them once construction is complete.

Shower – Countertop – Stairs

It’s been two weeks since the last update. I’ve been traveling for work but a lot has happened at the building.

Our shower is coming along. It will be Slate tile on the shower head wall and River Rock on the floor. Finally there will be a glass separator wall once they complete all the tile work.

The outside stairs are almost complete.

And we had our stainless steel countertop installed. It was interesting getting it upstairs. It did not look that big in the drawings:) It was custom ordered from Sealtex in Dallas. They were very professional and did an incredible job!!!!!

Finally we started the railing around the Material Lift.

 IMG 4720IMG 4716

This week will consist of the installation of the sprinkler systems, electrical, flooring, and the finish of the HVAC. They have about half of the flooring complete. Its manufactured hardwood and looks incredible!!!!!!!

Dry Wall Continues

The last two weeks have been about the same. Dry wall continues, electrical continues, and we continue to seal the brick.

Here is where we are so far.

Here is the second floor, as soon as you come up the stairs. We are planning on using this as a sitting area for right now. They have started hanging the chandeliers. Once they are completed with the construction, we will add the crystals and lower them to the proper height..

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 329b

The upstairs mechanical room and half bath.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 329e

The lights above our kitchen island. They should be installing the stainless steel counter top later this week. We covered the cabinets with plastic and cardboard to protect them while construction is going on.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 32a4

The chandelier above our bed.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 32a8

Our front door is getting ready to be installed.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 32a1

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 329f

This upcoming week should be the finish of the drywall, outside staircase, countertops, and the electrical finish out.

Dry Wall

This has been an exciting week for the project. The week started with painting the rafters black.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3239UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3238

The electrical and plumbing was completed and inspected so they could start hanging dry wall.

Here are the upstairs master bath, half bath, and closet areas.

The door to the closet.(The former dark room door when the building was a photography studio in the 60’s as far as we know.)

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3259

The downstairs bathrooms and janitors closet areas.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 325c

And our garage area in the back of the building.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 326e

And finally they poured the concrete next to the Otis Material Lift.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3263

This upcoming week will be the remaining dry wall, electrical and plumbing finish outs, and the hanging of the lighting fixtures.

Getting Closer

We are getting closer. They finished painting the front and west sides of the building.UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3219UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3229

They started framing of the 2nd floor windows. When we installed the new windows they temporary installed them to dry in the building. Now they are finishing the installation.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3221

HVAC continues downstairs.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3223UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3217

And we started to seal the upstairs brick in the shower area.

BeforeUNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 320e

AfterUNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3220UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 3222

Finally framing is almost complete. Here is the rotating door to the closet. We salvaged it from the building when there was a photography business upstairs and they had a dark room door.
